Synopsis City HunterThere is a rumor in Shinjuku:“If you write the letters XYZ on the bulletin board at the east exit of Shinjuku Station、 a fixer called ‘City Hunter’ will help you out.”After the death of his partner Hideyuki Makimura、 Ryo Saeba、 aka the City Hunter、 teams up with Hideyuki’s sister Kaori Makimura to tackle all kinds of cases、 ranging anywhere from jobs related to the underworld that the police cannot solve、 international issues、 to neighborhood dispute-related jobs. Whatever the case、 he only accepts a job when he resonates with the client’s true intentions. When Ryo is in trouble、 the female detective Saeko Nogami from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department、 as well as the former mercenary Hayato Ijuin (Umibozu) and his partner Miki are there to help him. Although Ryo is capable of solving any kind of case、 his only weakness is that he is too fond of beautiful women. Every time Ryo acts like a pervert、 his partner Kaori punishes him with a 100-ton hammer that appears out of nowhere. Ryo、 Kaori、 and their friends work together to solve various incidents that occur in the town of Shinjuku.First serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump in 1985、 the original comic version by Tsukasa Hojo was a hit. An animation version appeared two years later、 followed by a TV series and movie. After a special animation version was broadcast in 1999、 City Hunter was extended in the form Angel Heart、 which was set in a parallel world. In 2019、 the original voice actors were gathered to produce City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes、 which was a great hit.
