Synopsis
Mumin, MoominMoomin is a kind Moomintroll boy who is full of curiosity. He lives with his father Moominpappa, a family man who always wears a silk hat, and his mother Moominmamma, who is gentle and a good cook, in a fictional place called Moominvalley that is also home to mysterious fairy-like creatures. Moomin lives a peaceful life with his friends, including his girlfriend Non-non (Snorkmaiden in the English version) , who is from a tribe similar to the Moomintrolls, Non-non’s older brother Snork, the intrepid Mymble Little My, Sniff, who is cowardly but gentle to those weaker than him, and Snufkin, a cool-headed traveler who loves freedom and music. The series consists of standalone episodes about trivial events that occur in the peaceful Moominvalley, Moomin’s everyday life with his family and friends, and interaction with travelers who visit Moominvalley. The series is sometimes referred to as Showa Moomin because it was broadcast in Showa 44 (1969). Although the series was based on the Moomin novels, numerous modern inventions and appliances appear in it as original features, and cars appear in some episodes. The name “Non-non” of Moomin’s girlfriend, Snorkmaiden, only appears in this series, and many other new features were added. Following the author’s wishes, Non-non’s name was changed to Floren in Tanoshii Mumin Ikka that was first aired in 1990.
