Synopsis
Faitoda!! PyutaPyuta Konno loves inventing things, and is a boy of action. He wants to be a great inventor like his grandfather, Dr. Tsururi. Usually, Pyuta gets on his vehicle, “Tarukoputa,” to travel between the laboratory and town, and helps his grandfather as a kind of handyman. Dr. Tsururi used to be a super-genius scientist, but he was so shocked by losing the Nobel Prize to Einstein that he has lost his marbles a little. However, whenever his head receives impact, a fanfare for horse racing rings out, and he becomes a genius again, yelling “Kitado, Kitado!” (“Eureka, Eureka!”). When he regains yet more power, he yells “Musshu Muramura!” (“Monsieur Muramura”) and goes into hustle mode. Villains such as Walther VII, an evil genius scientist from a prestigious family, attack them to obtain Dr. Tsururi’s inventions. Dr. Tsururi uses his abilities and Pyuta leverages his unique active attitude and wit to confront such villains, and the two solve many difficult cases.Faitoda!! Pyuta was a TV animation adaptation of the Dr. Tsururi serial published in the Weekly Shonen Sunday. Since the series was not rebroadcast, it remained a legendary show up until the middle of the 20th century, passed down among animation fans.It was only in 2005 that a DVD collection of all 26 episodes was released by Columbia Music Entertainment (current Columbia). Fans of the series include many who later became animation directors.
