Synopsis
Manga Ijin MongatariThe series consists of standalone episodes, each of which features a great historical figure who helped create the foundations of the world and others associated with the figure, and tells a story worthy of being passed down to future generations.A wide range of characters were covered in the series. Some episodes depicted the lives of figures who appear in history textbooks, such as Florence Nightingale, known as the “Angel of the Crimea” and “Lady with the Lamp,” who contributed to the development of medical culture during the Crimean War, and Alexander the Great, the young warrior king descended from a Greek hero, who later also served as pharaoh of Egypt. Other episodes shed light on the true face of various writers and artists, including Hans Cristian Andersen who wrote many world-famous children’s stories such as The Little Match Girl and The Little Mermaid, and Leonardo da Vinci, known for his extensive achievements in technology and scholarship, as well as his masterpiece painting the Mona Lisa.This animation series offers an easy way for viewers to learn about the many achievements of great historical figures who pioneered the way for humanity through their love, intellect, courage, and effort, and shows that their lives were full of moving and dramatic events.Broadcast from 1977 to 1978, the series covered more than 90 great historical figures.
