Synopsis
Akane-chanAlthough Akane Kamijo, aka Akane-chan, is born to a prestigious family, she has poor health from a young age and is therefore taken care of by her uncle Sosuke, a painter, who lives in the countryside.Six years later, after fully recovering, she returns to her parents’ house.Due to her experience of life in the countryside, Akane has grown into a positive, tough, and innocent tomboy. Akane’s upper-class family members are shocked by her uncivilized behavior, and she becomes a source of concern for her siblings.However, Akane’s unique pure-hearted nature and wholehearted consideration for others enables her to gradually gain the acknowledgement and trust of those around her.Later on, she enters Shirabaka Gakuen, a prestigious school in the city. She ignores the upper-class traditions of the school, becoming a source of wonder and discovery for all the students and teachers who were influenced by her unique personality.Hidemaro Kitaoji, aka “Hidebaro,” the selfish and delinquent grandson of the school chairman, starts to change his attitude after meeting Akane, developing a sense of admiration and affection for her. The two work together to solve various cases that happen in the school.The original of this comic series was by Tetsuya Chiba, famous for his Ashita no Joe and Harris no Kaze. The series was published in Kodansha’s Shojo Friend, a comic magazine for young girls, conveying the author’s message: “I dedicate this to modern kids who have all but lost contact with wildness.”
