Marude Dameo Dameo Marude is an elementary school boy who is bad at everything including studying and sports. His best friend is Borot, an old and useless robot created by his father Hageteru Marude who is an inventor.Borot does not have any tremendous power or killer weapon. But Dameo’s mother Yumeyo who is a ghost asks Borot to take care of Dameo.Borot does all the housework such as cooking, laundry and cleaning for the Marude family. And with the advices from Yumeyo, he tackles various things with all his might. But because he does even small things at full power, he sometimes creates unnecessary turmoil.Dameo and Borot work together to overcome and solve such troubles.In addition, lots of Hageteru’s useless and unwelcome inventions and the people with unique characters surrounding Dameo and Borot cause all kinds of trouble. There is always commotion in the town they live in.It is a heartfelt comedy of how Dameo and Borot are always cheerful and never get discouraged even though they are always making mistakes and being mocked by others, which surely will lift many people’s heart. The original manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from 1964 to 1967, and a total of 12 volumes have been published. Before it was adapted into an anime, it was made into a live-action drama broadcasted from 1966 to 1967. The animated series began airing in 1991, and its settings were changed from the original manga and the live-action drama. Characters like the ghost mother Yumeyo and Dameo’s classmates were created for the anime version.
