Synopsis
Canvas sepiairo no mochifu, Canvas: Sepia-iro no Motif Daisuke Aso is an eleventh-year student at Nadeshiko Gakuen. He originally enrolled on a watercolor scholarship but has become demotivated due to being made to paint at school. He also no longer takes part in activities at the art club of which is a member.Days pass and Daisuke has no idea what to paint. And one day, he is notified that his scholarship would be rescinded unless he wins a prize in the next competition.Through interacting with the women around him, including Amane Tachibana, a childhood friend that is like a sister to Daisuke, Ren Sakurazuka, who suddenly became his sister-in-law due to the remarriage of his father, and Yu Shinomiya, who was his first love during childhood, Daisuke gets a clear picture of what he wants to draw and regains his passion.Based on an adult love adventure video game of the same name that was released in 2000 by Cocktail Soft, Canvas: Sepia-iro no Motif was produced by Lemon Heart in 2001 as a two-episode OVA. While the video game covers Daisuke’s story with each of the female protagonists, the animated version focuses on his relationship with the main female protagonist Amane. Canvas: Sepia-iro no Motif has many fans—it served as the foundation for the animated TV series Canvas2, a sequel released in October 2005.The original video game was launched on Dreamcast and PlayStation 2 with the adult content removed. The game’s popularity led to the production of a sequel and expansion into other media formats, including a mobile app version that was released in 2010.
