Soukyuu no Fafunaa, Fafner in the Azure: Dead Aggressor One day, Kazuki Makabe, who grew up on Tatsumiya Island in the Pacific Ocean, finds himself in a battle against a golden enemy called Festum that suddenly appears from the sky. The only ones who can resist the relentless onslaught of Festum are Ikki and other boys who have special aptitude and can board the humanoid battle weapon Fafner.Kazuki pilots the Fafner and fights alongside his friends, including his childhood friend Soshi Minashiro, who makes full use of the Siegfried System, a combat command system. However, Festum's merciless onslaught take the lives of his friends and the islanders one by one.Kazuki, who begins to have doubts after losing so much in the battle, encounters the Human Army that fights with a different purpose than the people of Tatsumiya Island, and temporarily leaves the island to stay with them. There, Kazuki learns how trapped humanity was in the outside world and returns to the island, determined to fight to protect the peace that is what the people of the island aim for.At the same time, Soshi is kidnapped by the Festum. In order to rescue Soshi, Kauzuki enters the Arctic, where one of the Mir, the central core of a Festum, is located, and after a grueling battle, he defeats the Mir, rescues Soshi, and returns to Tatsumiya Island.Fafner in the Azure: Dead Aggressor is an animation series produced by XEBEC and aired a total of 25 episodes from July 2004. The series production continued for a long time including a feature film and its sequel released in 2010 and 2015, respectively.
