Its sequel, Ikkyu-san 2, aired on May 5, 2013. The show is starred by Fuku Suzuki. Fuku Suzuki made his debut in Kimi ga kureta Natsu--Ganbareba Shiawase ni Nareruyo--on the Nippon TV network, in which he played the son of the leading actor, Hideaki Takizawa. He later rose to stardom with his role in Marumo no Okite, which premiered on the same network in 2011 . As for other members of the cast, Hiroki Narimiya plays Ninagawa Shinemon and Noriyuki Higashiyama plays Yoshimitsu Ashikaga.
