Synopsis
Yukan kurabu, Yukan Club St. President Academy, a prestigious school, has a student council composed of six beautiful men and women. They include Yuri Kenbishi, a strongly-built young girl, Seishiro Kikumasamune, the student council president who is both intelligent and athletic, Noriko Hakushika, a smart and gentle girl, Miroku Shochikubai, the student council vice president who has a wide circle of friends, Karen Kizakura, a self-claimed and universally recognized beauty, and Bido Granmarie, a playboy of Swedish descent. The six unique student council officers are referred to by other students and teachers as Yukan Club. Each of the six members makes full use of his or her diverse abilities to confront and solve a variety of cases, ranging not only from the school’s oddities, but also from political intrigues in various countries, underworld conflicts, and occult phenomena. The series is based on a manga by Yukari Ichijo and serialized in Ribon, a serial magazine published by Shueisha, from 1981. Since then, it has appeared irregularly in Margaret and Chorus (now Cocohana), both published by Shueisha. It received the 1986 Kodansha Manga Award in the shoujo category. It was made into an OVA in 1991 and 1992, with one episode each for each OVA. In 1986, it was broadcast as a one-off TV drama in the Monday Drama Land slot of the Fuji Television network. The protagonist, Yuri Kenbishi, was played by Sayuri Kokusho, a member of the very popular idol group Onyanko Club. It also became a TV drama series in 2007, produced and broadcast by Nippon Television Network Corporation. The drama featured Miroku Shochikubai as the protagonist played by Jin Akanishi. Scenes that were not depicted in the original story or the one-off drama were added.
