It was serialized as an omnibus story in Princess GOLD—a girls’ manga magazine published by Akita Shoten—from 1990 to 2002. Subsequently, a drama CD was produced and released between 1995 and 2002. It was dramatized for television in July 2002 and broadcast as the first installment of the Super Period Drama series in Fuji Television’s Tuesday Period Drama slot. It consists of five episodes. Although it is a period drama, it is characterized by diverse visual expressions such as special effects-like action and computer graphics. To accommodate these expressions, Katsuro Onoue, who was involved in the production of the Super Sentai series, and Tomoo Haraguchi, who was in charge of special makeup and models for the Gamera series, were hired as the production team.
