Synopsis

Nebula Mask Machineman Nick is a kind-hearted college student from the distant planet Ivy, located in the Pleiades. He travels to Earth to find a theme for his graduation thesis.Meanwhile, on Earth, Professor K, a brilliant but mad scientist who hates, and is allergic to, children and who can’t stop sneezing when he hears them laugh, is engaging in evil deeds to bully children, such as making their textbooks completely blank. Arriving to Earth, Nick happens to meet Maki Hayama, a female photographer at the editorial team of the magazine Weekly Hit. Using his special Ivy abilities, Nick saves Maki from an assault by Tentacle, an evil organization working for Professor K. Developing an affection for Maki, Nick decides to start a new life as Ken Takase, a temporary human appearance for him during his stay on Earth. Wearing his Warrior Suit, which enhances his Ivy powers, Nick transforms into Nebula Mask Machineman, defender of Planet Earth. He continues the struggle to protect Earth’s children and Maki from Professor K, as well as Octopus, an evil organization led by Lady M, the queen that took over after Professor K.Nebula Mask Machineman was produced by Toei and aired on the Nippon TV network from January to September 1984. It was created by Shotaro Ishinomori. Ishinomori’s eldest son, Joe Onodera, appears as one of the child characters in the series. The screenplay was written by Shozo Uehara and Susumu Takaku, who wrote the scripts for numerous robot and superhero series in the 1970s onwards. Nebula Mask Machineman is a tokusatsu superhero series with a comedy touch.
