Hotman ‘04 Spring Special: Departure This is a TV special based on the TV series Hotman, which aired from April 10 to June 19, 2003. The siblings of the Furiya family all have different fathers. This is because their mother Yuriko Furiya, who is an actress, has gone through multiple marriages and divorces. The siblings and Nanami, the daughter of the eldest brother Enzo, are going about life as usual.Enzo secretly has a crush on a woman named Misuzu Kaneko. She used to work at the same high school as Enzo, but has returned to her parents’ house in Matsushima, Miyagi Prefecture, to look after her ill mother. Meanwhile, the eldest sister Shima has a boyfriend named Naoyuki Saeki, who is training to become a chef. Shima has been keeping Naoyuki a secret from the others, but one day Enzo bumps into Naoyuki, who is waiting for Shima outside the Furiyas’ house. The two soon hit it off, and Naoyuki quickly becomes known by the whole family. Later, Enzo, encouraged by those around him, decides to go to Matsushima to propose to Misuzu. All the siblings are played by the same cast as in the first season, with Takashi Sorimachi starring as Enzo Furiya and Manami Konishi as Shima.The TV special is based on the manga Hotman by Sho Kitagawa, which was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from issues 6 to 7 of 1997 to issue 30 of 2000. Following the conclusion of the first season, Hotman ‘04 Spring Special: Departure was broadcast in the Wednesday Premium slot on April 14, 2004. The role of Shima’s boyfriend Naoyuki Saeki, who makes his first appearance in the show, is played by Mokomichi Hayami. (Hayami only appears in the TV special.)
