Synopsis
Hit and Run Ran Endo, the leading character, serves as the captain of the Inaba Junior High School baseball team. However, since the seniors left, the team has been on a record losing streak of 18. Even the spectators make fun of their poor performance -- constantly striking out three and missing in the field. Fed up, the school administration eventually gives the soccer team priority use of the field. What is more, the baseball team can no longer obtain permission to participate in official inter-school matches. Despite these hardships, Ran and his team remain passionate as ever about playing baseball. Akiyama, the baseball team’s advisor, recognizes their passion and does whatever he can to help them. Thanks to his efforts, the team is permitted to participate in a district tournament. Their first opponent is Koryo Junior High School, which is known as a strong team. The team members give it all they have, securing a remarkable victory. However, the team’s victory came at a price: their only pitcher, Tsuyoshi, injured his shoulder just before the end of the game. The series portrays the boys’ unwavering commitment to their passion for baseball despite recurring hardships.Hit and Run is an animation TV show based on the manga of the same name by manga artist Hideo Aya. The manga was serialized by Shogakukan in Weekly Shonen Sunday, and was also later published in 13 tankobon volumes. The show is based on the storyline of three tankobon volumes, airing in the Nissei Family Special slot on the Fuji TV network on February 18, 1979. It was produced by Nippon Animation and became the first show to be broadcast in the Nissei Family Special slot.
