Synopsis

Urutoraman, UltramanUltraman is an alien from Nebula M78, otherwise known as the “Land of Light,” whose mission is to protect the galaxy from vicious aliens and monsters. When he tries to land on Earth, he accidentally collides with the flying weapon Beetle piloted by Shin Hayata who is a member of the Science Special Search Party—so-called Science Patrol—an organization dedicated to solving alien and monster-related cases. Hayata is mortally injured as a result of this accident. Ultraman chooses to fuse with Hayata to save his life, thanks to which Hayata survives. Hayata, who can now transform into the giant of light Ultraman using the Beta Capsule, devotes himself to protecting Earth from monster and alien-related threats together with other members of the Science Patrol.Ultraman is a tokusatsu superhero series produced by Tsuburaya Productions, airing on TBS from July 1966 to April 1967. After the series concluded, many other shows were added to the Ultra series. For instance, the manga Ultraman, which covers a future different from the one depicted in the final episode from the perspective of the protagonist Shinjiro Hayata, Shin Hayata’s son, was serialized in Monthly Heroes and later adapted into an anime. Susumu Kurobe, who played the main character in Ultraman, continued to appear in later Ultra series shows in the same role. The daughter of Kurobe, Takami Yoshimoto, played the heroine Rena Yanase in Ultraman Tiga (1996–1997). Kurobe and Yoshimoto appeared in the roles of father and daughter in the film Superior 8 Ultra Brothers released in 2008. The Ultra series remains popular in various media, with a new Ultra series movie being released in 2021.
