Synopsis

Ganbare!! RoboconRobots that are created to aid humans go to study at the Robot Academy and are sent to live among humans, where they try hard to become fully qualified robots through working for people and society. Among these is Robocon, a screw-up robot who is clumsy but hard to hate. (The show is a tokusatsu drama series for children in which actors wearing costumes play the robots.) Robocon lives with the Oyamas. Even though he tries hard every day, he manages to mess things up most of the time. He is constantly reprimanded by the Oyamas and frequently scolded by Gantsu Sensei, his teacher at the Robot Academy. However, Robocon will do whatever he can to gain the attention of Robin-chan, a robotic ballerina who he has a crush on. In order to serve his robot friends and the Oyamas, Robocon keeps working hard so that he can one day earn the Heart Mark––a title awarded to only the best robots who earn “full marks.”Ganbare!! Robocon was developed by Shotaro Ishinomori and produced by Toei, airing on TV Asahi from October 1974 to March 1977. After the series concluded, a sequel titled Moero!! Robocon was broadcast in 1999, and the stand-alone movie Ganbareiwa!! Robocon was released in 2020. Hatsue Oyama, in whose house Robocon lives, was played by Midori Kato, a female voice actor famous for her role as Sazae-san, and Kaho Shimada, who later became a female musical theater actor, played the robotic ballerina Robina-chan who Robocon has a crush on.
