Synopsis

009-1 The story is set in a future where the Cold War did not end. The world is divided into two blocs, West and East, and marked by extreme turmoil. Mylene Hoffman, codenamed “009-1,” is a spy working for the West bloc. Caught up in a fight between the West and East blocs, she is found by a West soldier and transformed into a cyborg. With her new gained physical abilities and special powers that far surpass those of regular humans, she joins the Zero Zero Organization, a secret intelligence agency comprised by cyborg spies.Meanwhile, a plan is conceived to use technology based on a new energy elemental theory developed by Dr. Soyuz, an Eastern bloc scientist, for military purposes. This leads to growing concerns over West-East relations, and fractures start to form between the two nations. To prevent this plan, Mylene infiltrates the East to locate Soyuz there.Mylene goes on to tackle various missions aimed at resolving potential issues between the two nations and eliminating threats. The title of the animation series is 009-1. It was adapted into a live-action film titled 009-1: The End of the Beginning in 2013.009-1 is an animation series with a science fiction/spy action theme. Created by Ishimori Productions, it aired on the TBS network from October to December 2006. The series is based on a seinen (young adult men) manga by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori, which was serialized in the manga magazine Manga Action from 1967 to 1974.
