Synopsis

Spectreman Planet E, the fifth planet of the Geisty Solar System, is ruled by a space ape-man named Gori, who, despite being a genius scientist with an IQ of 300, acts like a dictator. Due to his tyrannical character, Gori is exiled from Planet E. He lands on Earth after wandering around in space. Gori is attracted by this planet of rich natural beauty, but is enraged by the environmental pollution caused by the indigenous species, i.e. humanity. To overthrow humanity and become the new ruler of Earth, Gori sends in colossal monsters and launches an invasion of Earth to exterminate humanity, accompanied by his right-hand man, Karas (or Ra).A government agency called Pollution Investigation Bureau No. 8, aka Pollution G-Men, rises to confront this threat, but they are overwhelmed by Gori’s army of monsters. Then, Spectreman, a cyborg agent of the Space Union who has been sent to protect Earth on the orders of the Nebula 71 Star, appears before the Pollution G-Men. Disguised as a human being named Joji Gamo, Spectreman joins the newly formed Monster G Men and goes on to fight against Gori’s monster army to protect Earth.Spectreman is a tokusatsu series produced by P Productions, airing on the Fuji TV network from January 1971 to March 1972. The story was created by Soji Ushio. The screenwriters included Masaki Tsuji, a pioneer in children’s shows, and Keisuke Fujikawa, who was later involved in various popular animation series. The initial title was Space-Ape Gori, but was later changed to Space-Ape Gori vs. Spectreman as the story progressed. Ultimately, Spectreman settled as the series’ title.
