The legendary racer Nick Ramda visits the hospital and tells Takaya about his experience of returning to the race track after recovering from an accident. Takaya joins Katori Motors、 which was arranged by Nick、 and resumes his quest to become a top racer.Takaya finds it difficult to win in F1 races、 but he learns from his many defeats and matures as a racer. Finally、 he gains his first victory in the F1 Grand Prix held in Japan、 his home country. After the race、 he goes through the death of one of his long-standing rivals、 as well as that of his father、 with whom he had at last come to terms. Takaya matures as a racer and as a person、 together with Suzuko Ose、 who has supported him since his recovery and comeback to racing. At first、 Takaya tends to get agitated over minor accidents and lose his concentration、 but thanks to the devoted support of Suzuko and others、 he evolves into a great racer. Eventually、 Takaya earns the name “Hawk of the Grand Prix、” and is loved by his fans.Unlike other TV anime series that were produced amid the supercar craze in the 1970s、 the story was based on the realities of an F1 racer participating in various races around the world. The series earned great popularity among viewers、 and its broadcast schedule was extended.
