Synopsis Kashi no Ki Mokku、 Mock of the Oak TreeOld Geppetto、 a modest woodcarver、 finds a branch that has been cut down from an oak tree by lightning floating down the river. He carves the wood into a boy doll and names it Mock. Finding the old man kind、 a fairy of the oak tree accepts his wish and gives life to the doll. Old Geppetto begins to live with Mock. The easily flattered Mock acts carelessly、 which causes trouble all the time. He reflects on himself every time he acts like that but repeats mistakes. Mock is also sometimes treated badly by his schoolmates because he is a wooden doll. Sometime later、 he begins to wish to become a real human. However、 Mock becomes a target of the authorities who consider him as “the doll of the devil.” Mock runs away. In a town、 he hears from orphans about the place you can find the herb that can cure the epidemic. To save townspeople、 Mock goes to the snowy mountain by himself and is able to obtain the herb at the risk of his life. While Mock is enjoying a Christmas party with his friends who have recovered from the illness、 he is discovered and shot by the authorities. The oak fairy、 acknowledging Mock’s kindness、 brings him back to life as a human child in exchange for her own life. Mock appreciates the fairy and leads a peaceful life with Old Geppetto、 as his real family member、 for the rest of his life. This anime series is produced by Tatsunoko Production based on the novel by Carlo Collodi、 The Adventures of Pinocchio.
