Synopsis Animaru 1Ichiro Higashi is a smallish but strong boy and a bad loser. Since the death of his mother、 he has lived with his father Kosuke、 a single father、 and six other siblings including the large-bodied second son Jiro、 the gentle third son Saburo、 the fourth son Shiro、 who is the smartest of the lot and helps his brothers with their homework、 the greedy fifth son Goro、 the mischievous sixth son Mutsuro、 and Nanako、 the youngest who acts like a mother.Ichiro transfers to Kawagoe Junior High School. One day、 he drives back a rogue bull that strayed into the school. Ichiro is invited to join many clubs that were fascinated by his strength、 but he ends up having a bout with Tadashi Yamabiko、 the advisor to the wrestling club. Ichiro is confident of his victory、 but is not match for the slim and agile Tadashi. Ichiro is fascinated by wrestling、 a sport open to all regardless of body size、 and decides to join the wrestling club.Once joining the wrestling club、 Ichiro trains hard with the support of his family. He gets in bad terms with Kurobe、 a transfer student who becomes a member of the wrestling club and Ichiro's rival. However、 the two become best friends after confronting each other. They improve their skills through competing with each other in the wrestling club、 and later participate in a wrestling tournament. However、 Ichiro is defeated by Kurahone in a match he fought instead of the captain. Subsequently、 Ichiro's scope of activity expands beyond the school club、 and he trains at various wrestling schools. After developing his special move、 the Animal Drop、 during a match with an American wrestler named Henry、 Ichiro、 in spite of still being a junior high school student、 is selected as a member of Japan's national team、 and defeats many of his rivals with an eye on playing in the Mexico Olympic Games. As the series was created in conjunction with the holding of the Mexico Olympic Games in 1968、 its setting as well reflects Japan's excitement for the Mexico Olympic Games.
