When his anger reaches the limit、 he shouts “Bakuhatsu da!” (“I’m gonna explode!”) and becomes amazingly strong. Using his amazing strength、 he helps various sports clubs at the school and becomes a school celebrity.Mayumi Saegusa、 the leader of the newspaper club、 is a strong-minded、 intelligent、 and kind girl who is concerned about Goro. She invites Goro to join the newspaper club、 and Goro accepts the offer and joins. After that、 Goro works with the newspaper club’s photographer Ippei Wajima、 a timid but cheerful and kind boy、 to solve various problems and incidents that occur in the school. The three keep on solving disputes in the school so that everyone can enjoy their youth in a great school environment、 taking on many challenges in the process.Broadcasting of the series started in 1970. It was an ambitious work that incorporated the theme of school-youth、 which was a huge trend at the time、 in an animation show. The gleeful story filled with laughter and tears set in Aozora Gakuen gained popularity among junior and senior high school students、 and the series is well known for its impact on numerous subsequent animation and drama shows themed around youth and school. The fact that the series was produced by TJC (current Eiken)、 known for works such as Tetsujin 28-go and Super Jetter、 and the theme song was sung by Kiyohiko Ozaki、 known for songs such as “Mata Au Hi Made、” further contributed to its popularity.
