Synopsis Gu-Gu GanmoGanmo is a fat pink bird that can talk. He hatched from a huge egg that had been left beneath a notice saying、 “Please look after it、” and lives with the Tsukuda family that found him.Ganmo lives an exciting life with Hanpeita Tsukuda、 a mischievous third grader who is neither particularly smart nor athletic but more energetic than anyone else、 Tsukune Tsukuda、 Hanpeita’s older sister in eighth grade who is rather aggressive、 and their parents、 gradually developing a bond with the family while struggling hard to become a good pet.Ganmo and the Tsukudas are constantly involved in trouble and drama along with unique characters such as Linda Skylark、 who is an American classmate of Hanpeita and speaks with an accent、 Tsutomu Saigo、 the bully who is obsessed with cleanliness、 Ayumi Ichigaya、 a rich and charming but mean girl who moved next door、 and Ayumi’s nasty little pet crow Déjà Vu.It turns out that Ganmo is a prince from the heavens; the day comes when he has to return to the skies.Hanpeita and the others break into tears when learning of Ganmo’s sudden departure、 and Ganmo returns to the heavens after a farewell party. However、 Ganmo’s mother the queen calls her son “overweight and ugly、” ordering him to go back and train again; thus、 Ganmo comes back to Hanpeita and the others.Gu-Gu Ganmo was aired from 1984 to 1985 on Fuji Television (50 episodes in total). It was based on the manga by Fujihiko Hosono、 a manga artist famous for Dokkiri Doctor and Gallery Fake.
