Synopsis Aoki Densetsu Shuto、 Shoot!! Toshihiko Tanaka joins the soccer club of Kakegawa High School because he admires Yoshiharu Kubo、 a fantasista who turned the school’s newly established soccer club into a powerful team in just six months. Together with Kazuhiro Hiramatsu and Kenji Shiraishi from the same junior high school、 Toshihiko shows his ability and although a freshman、 is acknowledged as one of the main players of the team.Toshihiko’s team together with his idol Kubo wins through the preliminaries of the inter-high summer competition. But they face a predicament in the semifinal game against Kakegawa Kita High School.Amid this situation、 Kubo succeeds in dribbling past 11 opponents and scores a goal. But because his body was riddled with leukemia、 he collapses from overwork. His play rouses and unites his teammates、 and they win the game.However、 in exchange of this victory、 Kubo takes his last breath in the locker room. Because of this shocking incident、 Kakegawa High School gets badly beaten in the final.The loss of Kubo cloaks the soccer club with a dark mood. But a transfer student named Keigo Mahori joins the club、 and from there、 the team recovers from the shock and goes to the preliminaries of the inter-high winter competition.Kakegawa High School revenges the defeat in the summer and wins the winter preliminary final 、 and goes on to win one victory after another in the national tournament too.It is a lively soccer anime packed with the boys’ passion for soccer and a love battle over Kazumi Endo、 Toshihiko’s childhood friend and the manager of the soccer club.It is an anime produced based on Tsukasa Oshima ’s manga Shoot! This original manga was also made into a live-action film starring SMAP.
