Tokusou Kihei Dorubakku、 Special Armored Battalion DorvackIn the beginning of the 21th century、 a colony ship of the Idelians、 aliens in exile、 appears in the solar system. Expecting their settlement、 the Idelians launch an invasion to Earth with their battle mecha、 Cangrid、 under the command of General Zeller.Given the variable machines developed to fight against the Idelians、 three pilots、 Masato Mugen、 Louie Oberon、 and Pierre Bonaparte、 form the Dorvack squad and go on the counterattack to the invaders.Amid such a situation、 commander-in-chief of the Idelian Army Amov finds that Zeller’s evil intention is dangerous even to the Idelians、 and escapes from the army with his daughter Aroma. They are protected by the Earth Defense Forces.Then、 Amov and the Earth Defense Forces make an investigation and reveal that the Idelians share their ancestors with the Earthling and that the Zeller is attempting to seize power sealed on the Idelian continent sleeping on the sea bottom of Earth.The Idelians rebel against Zellaer、 who has an evil ambition and plots to massacre both the Earthling and the Idelians、 but all the Idelians except for Aroma are killed in the battle.Aroma and the Dorvack squad continue the fight bravely、 and finally defeat Zeller. However、 Aroma、 who has completed her job、 leaves a message to Masato and others、 saying、 “You must not grow darkness in your heart、” and then flies away to space by transforming into something like a white bird.Although the main character typically had a single machine in robot anime produced after 1980、 this series featured multiple machines for one main character、 causing the subsequent anime to use this setting. Special Armored Battalion Dorvack is considered as a pioneer work in this respect.
