Samurai Champuru、 Samurai ChamplooThe story is set in Yokohama in a unique fictionalized version of Edo period Japan that incorporates elements of modern culture. Both samurai and commonfolk enjoy an age of peace and prosperity. In the town of Yokohama lives a girl named Fuu. Even though she has no family、 she is kind-hearted and full of curiosity. She lives with a flying squirrel called Momo、 working many part-time jobs while searching for a samurai who smells of sunflower. One day、 she happens to meet Mugen、 an arrogant and womanizing swordsman who fights using a combination of self-taught sword techniques and unique breakdancing-like martial art techniques、 and Jin、 a quiet、 rational、 and cool Mujushin Kenjutsu-style swordsman. Fuu hires the two contrasting swordsmen as bodyguards and embarks on a journey to various places. Her journey with these two rather strange characters is filled with trouble––confronting street-murderers、 bandits、 and other enemies、 getting involved in various incidents、 etc.––but they gradually get to know each other and deepen their relationship. Fuu finds clues as to the whereabouts of the sunflower-smelling samurai and pursues him together with the two swordsmen、 meeting and parting with many people along the way. The sunflower-smelling samurai is Fuu’s father、 Seizo Kasumi、 and she is reunited with him after a long journey.Samurai Champloo is an original TV animation series directed by Shinichiro Watanabe、 known for works such as Cowboy Bepop. It was broadcast in 26 episodes on Fuji TV from 2004.
