Synopsis Dragon Zakura A private school with an average standard score of 36 and college enrollment rate of two percent、 Ryuzan High School is on the brink of bankruptcy. Kenji Sakuragi、 a biker gang leader turned lawyer、 is sent to the school from the Tokyo District Court for the insolvency proceedings. Sakuragi is despised by Mamako Ino and other faculty members、 and has been denounced as a third-rate lawyer by the media due to his former career.Wanting to fulfill his ambition of becoming a first-class lawyer、 he declares before the entire school that he will get five students into Tokyo University. He creates a special class for this and serves as its homeroom teacher. Sakuragi gathers five students who have lost their dreams and hope due to various circumstances. While sometimes presenting them with the tough reality、 he discerns each student’s personality and provides them with personalized study methods by leveraging his personal experience and know-how to enter the Tokyo University、 converting their knowledge into solid academic skills. As a result、 Sakuragi gradually earns the trust of those around him、 transforming the no-hope school into an elite school that sends students to Tokyo University.Dr agon Zakura is a TV series that aired on the TBS network from July to September 2005. It is based on a seinen manga created by Norifusa Mita、 which was serialized in the manga magazine Morning from 2003 to 2007. A sequel TV series titled Dragon Zakura 2 aired in 2021 in the same Sunday Theater slot on the TBS network. The series garnered attention for its star-studded cast、 with Hiroshi Abe as the leading character、 Kenji Sakuragi、 and Tomohisa Yamashita、 Teppei Koike、 and Yui Aragaki as his students. A remake was released in South Korea in 2010.
