Jotei Kaoruko Saya Nishimura was born in Akita. She has been raised by her grandmother because her mother was her father’s mistress. However、 both her father and her grandmother、 Tae、 pass away. Just before her death、 Tae told Saya that her real mother is still alive、 and that she works at a hostess club in Ginza、 Tokyo under the name of “Kaoruko.” Graduating from high school、 Saya immediately moves to Tokyo to find her mother. Meanwhile、 a girl from Nagasaki called Miki Minamino also sets off to live in Tokyo. She was brought up in a troubled family too、 as her father vanished with his mistress、 a hostess who goes by the name of Kaoruko. Hoping to find her father、 she intends to locate the hostess Kaoruko. Saya and Miki meet in Ginza by chance、 and they both become hostesses at “Gorgeous、” a luxury hostess club in Ginza、 to find the elusive Kaoruko. Although disagreeing on their philosophy as hostesses、 they later find out that Kaoruko、 the jotei (empress) of Ginza、 is Saya’s real mother. Just as they learn about this、 Saya and Miki are dragged into a dispute with the Ginryukai、 an organization trying to find Kaoruko and obtain secret files in her possession that would enable them to control Ginza.Jotei Kaoruko is a TV series that was collaboratively produced by a Japanese and South Korean crew. Based on the manga Jotei: SUPER QUEEN、 it aired in TV Asahi’s Sunday Night Drama block from April 25 to June 13、 2010. Saya Nishimura was played by Mirei Kiritani、 a popular fashion model at the time. It was her first leading role in a TV series. Jotei: SUPER QUEEN was written by Ryo Kurashina and illustrated by Issaku Wake. It was serialized by Shueisha in Business Jump from issue 19 of 2006 to issue 16 of 2007. The screenplay was written by Shizuka Ohki、 a former member of the pop group Yoshimotozaka46.
