Synopsis Princess Comet (Yumiko Kokonoe/Kumiko Oba Versions)A young girl from Beta Andromedae travels to Earth. As her constant pranks had bothered the teachers of Star School、 she was expelled from the school by the principal and sent to Earth to learn good manners. Called Comet-san、 she begins working as a housemaid for the family of Professor Kawagoe、 a theoretical physicist. While this was the premise for the first-generation series、 it changed when Yumiko Oba took over the role of the second-generation Comet-san. In this series、 Comet-san comes to Earth to find the most beautiful thing on Earth. However、 because of her unfamiliarity with Earth's customs and common sense、 she is initially mistaken for a runaway girl and gets in trouble. Armed with a magic baton entrusted to her by her mother、 she uses her natural cuteness and purity to help those in need. Through her encounters with many people、 she eventually discovers the most beautiful thing with her own eyes. Both the Yumiko Kokonoe version and the Kumiko Oba version share the element of using a magic baton to solve difficult problems together with children. However、 the overall premise differs somewhat between the first and second series. Both of the series were originally conceived by the scriptwriter Mamoru Sasaki. Both are tokusatsu (special effects) dramas produced by Kokusai Hoei. The first series aired from July 1967 to November 1967、 and the second series aired from June 1978 to September 1979.Later、 starting in April 2001、 an anime adaptation based on these series、 titled Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san☆ 、 was broadcast. In this anime version、 the first-generation Comet-san (Yumiko Kokonoe) and the second-generation Comet-san (Kumiko Oba) participated in playing the roles of Comet-san’s mother and aunt respectively as voice actresses.
