Synopsis Jinjin no Jin Jin Jinno lost his mother when he was in high school、 with no other relatives to rely on. Following his mother’s last wishes、 “become Japan’s top rakugoka、” he relocates from Tsugaru to Tokyo alone to become a rakugoka. He asks Yanagiya Kosan、 a renowned rakugoka、 to take him as his apprentice. However、 Kosan turns Jin down due to his strong Tsugaru accent. With nowhere else to go and no home to return to、 Jin makes every effort to get accepted. Moved by Jin’s hard efforts、 the owner of the local restaurant、 his neighbors、 and even Kosan’s other apprentices gradually begin to help him. With the help of those around him、 Jin’s efforts eventually come to fruition、 and he is accepted as an apprentice. This marks the beginning of his career as a rakugoka.Based on a manga、 Jinjin no Jin aired for 12 episodes on Tokyo Channel 12 (current TV Tokyo) from January 8 to March 26、 1974. The screenplay was written by Fumio Ishimori、 who is known for many famous works in various genres、 such as the film Galaxy Express 999 and the Hissatsu Shigotonin period drama series. The character Yanagiya Kosan is based on the famous rakugoka of the same name、 and was actually played by Yanagiya Kosan V. K inya Aikawa、 a famous TV presenter affectionately known by the nickname “Kinkin、” and Mari Amachi、 who was a nationally popular singer、 both made special appearances in the series as themselves.The original manga was written by Kimio Komatsu and illustrated by Joya Kagemaru. It was serialized by Shogakukan in Weekly Shonen Sunday from issue 11 to issue 40 of 1973.
