Synopsis Haha wo Tazunete Sanzenri、 3000 Leagues in Search of MotherThe year is 1882. Marco is a young boy living in Genova、 Italy、 with his father Pietro、 mother Anna、 and elder brother Tonio.Marco’s father Pietro runs a clinic、 but one day he loses money in a scam. It becomes harder to make ends meet、 so his mother Anna decides to go and work in Argentina to earn money for the family. But it isn’t before long that the family loses touch with Anna. Worried about his mother、 Marco tells his father that he has decided to go search for her and embarks on a journey with his white monkey Amedeo.Thanks to the arrangements made by the ship’s captain、 Marco is allowed to stow away to Argentina in exchange for working on board. Arriving at Argentina、 Marco is reunited with Peppino’s company、 a puppeteer group he first met in Genova. Marco follows Peppino’s company for a while、 meeting and parting with various people on the way. After overcoming many challenges、 Marco is at last reunited with his mother Anna in a town called Tucuman.Anna has been so ill and weak that she could not even write a letter、 but the reunion with Marco gives her back the will to live. For the sake of Marco、 Anna decides to have an operation to cure her illness. Marco takes care of Anna、 who is recovering well after the operation. Then、 Marco hears from his brother Tonio back home. He has managed to become an engineer、 and is now certain to be able to repay the clinic’s debt.Marco and Anna、 who has now fully recovered、 get back home safely to Genova where Pietro and Tonio wait for them、 reuniting with those who helped Marco on his journey along the way.
