Synopsis Majokko Megu-chan、 Little Meg the Witch GirlMegu comes to the human world in order to develop her qualities as a candidate for the throne of the Kingdom of Spirits. Because of a spell cast by Mami Kanzaki、 an experienced witch、 Megu is adopted as a member of the Kanzaki family. Megu knows nothing about her new “family、” and leaves the house in confusion. She is challenged to a fight by her rival Non Gou、 who has also been sent to the human world as a candidate for the throne. Weakened by Non Gou’s magic、 Megu returns to the Kanzaki’s house and loses consciousness. Megu is taken care of by the whole family: her mother Mami Kanzaki、 her dad、 the eldest son Rabi Kanzaki、 and the youngest daughter Apo Kanzaki. Learning the warmth of family、 Megu starts her new life as a “Kanzaki.”When she is quiet、 Megu Kanzaki looks like a pretty young girl. Being very emotional、 however、 she develops a nasty tongue when she gets angry. On the other hand、 her rival Non Gou is a cool、 pretty girl competent in both academics and sports. A typical witch、 she looks down on humans and does not want to become friends with them. Megu and Non go through many dramatic events、 confronting each other but sometimes joining forces. Time passes、 and it is time to choose who will be the next queen. However、 both of them are rejected by the queen. The queen gives the following reasons: Megu Kanzaki has too much affection for humans、 while Non Gou knows too little about humans. The two return to their training in the human world、 and the story ends by expressing hope for their future growth.Majokko Megu-chan was one among several magical girl series created by Toei Animation. What distinguished it from other magical girl animation shows was its novel plot、 where two magical girls exist in the human world and compete with each other aspiring to become the queen. The series was popular among men as well.
