Erufen Rito、 Elfen LiedKouta has come to Kamakura from Hokkaido to go to university. He is allowed to live in a now unused Japanese restaurant called Kaedeso on the condition that he cleans the building.One day at Yuigahama、 Kouta comes across a girl who has lost her memory. The girl only utters one mysterious word: “nyu.” She seems to be attached to Kouta; he names her Nyu and takes her home with him.However、 Nyu’s real name is Lucy、 and she is a new type of human known as a Diclonius with a pair of horns protruding from the temples. Diclonii are so powerful that they are capable of annihilating Homo sapiens、 and a certain organization has kept them locked up. An accident happened at the facility in which she was kept、 which let her escape. But her memory was lost due to a shot to the head she got during her escape.After meeting Lucy and getting involved in the events that unfold around her、 Kouta learns that Lucy was the one that killed his father and younger sister eight years ago. Kouta despises Lucy for this、 but she greatly regrets what she did and does everything in her power to protect him no matter how much he hates her. Seeing Lucy trying to protect him no matter the risk、 Kouta forgives her and they are reconciled.Elfen Lied is based on the manga by Lynn Okamoto. It was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 2002 to 2005. All 13 episodes of the anime adaptation were broadcast on the cable channel Anime Theater X from 2004 and later in 2005 on terrestrial TV. The series is more popular outside Japan; it won numerous animation awards in France and the US.
