Gakkō no Kaidan、 Ghost StoriesSatsuki Miyanoshita and her younger brother Keiichiro、 whose mother passed away、 move with their father and start a new life.They transfer into Amanogawa Elementary School their parents used to attend. On their first day of school、 the Miyanoshita family’s pet cat、 Kaya、 wanders into the old school building and Satsuki and Keiichiro try to go get Kaya back.Hajime Aoyama、 Satsuki’s neighbor and the same grader as her、 and his friend Leo Kakinoki stop them. However、 with advice from Momoko Koigakubo、 an older schoolmate、 Satsuki and her friends decide to enter the old school building to look for Kaya.It turns out that the building is haunted by various ghosts and evil spirits. The kids are attacked by many of them.In a classroom they run into、 they find a book entitled “The Ghost Journal、” which was written by Satsuki’s mother when Satsuki was a child.Following the procedures in the book、 Satsuki puts a strong demon called Amanojaku to sleep and seals him when he comes attacking. However、 as he is sealed insufficiently、 Amanojaku possesses Kaya.To recover Kaya’s state、 Satsuki needs to properly reseal all the remaining ghosts listed in the Ghost Journal.From that day on、 Satsuki and her friends seal many ghosts、 and at last、 Amanojaku、 who has developed an attachment to humans、 protects them sacrificially、 helping them seal the last ghost.Then、 the Ghost Journal becomes blank as if it had completed its job. The book is stored as a keepsake from Satsuki’s mother. The ghosts are sealed again in a big tree on a hill with a spreading beautiful landscape.Slightly noticing the voice of Amanojaku smiling at them through the wind、 Satsuki and Keiichiro go back to their peaceful everyday life、 with a feeling of appreciation for him.
